TALPTECH is a spin-off of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) that was created with the mission of democratizing precision agriculture, making it accessible to any farmer, regardless of size or technological level.

Precision agriculture makes it possible to apply the right and necessary amount of inputs (water, fertilizers and phytosanitary products) to each plant, which reduces costs, improves sustainability, increases production and improves fruit quality.

However, less than 3% of farmers practice it on a regular basis, as existing solutions are expensive, complex and poorly adapted to day-to-day farm operations.

TALPTECH has created TALPO, a digital agronomist that is installed as a kit on any tractor. The farmer only has to press a button and the system works automatically.

The kit consists of:

  • Two cameras (the “eyes”) that capture images of each plant.
  • A high-performance processor (the “brain”) that analyzes in real time what it sees.

With this information, TALPO can:

  • Automatically adjust the dose of fertilizer or phytosanitary products.
  • Generate alerts if symptoms of pests or diseases are detected.
  • Collect data such as fruit counts, which allow predicting harvest or analyzing crop condition at a later date.
